Keepin it real

I have been a real bum lately. I am super behind on laundry, the house hasn't had a really thorough cleaning in weeks, and I haven't been keeping up with my promise to blog once every few days. I'm sorry. I'm just unmotivated and…well…down. I don't need therapy or anything, as I'm sure it will pass eventually, but there it is. Out in the open. I think I legitimately suffer from seasonal depression, and the winters here are brutal with a capital B. Sure, the last few days have been awesome, but for months and months it has been sososososososo cold. Like painful to even open the door and get the mail, let alone spend any amount of time outside. In addition, we've been a little strapped financially (thank you, super old house with apparently zero insulation) and Sam has been working a TON. Both of those add up to not many projects getting done. It's really hard for me because I have so many ideas and want everything to be done rightthissecond, but that's not real life. At least not for the majority us of who have budgets and can't hire out architects, contractors and designers to take care of everything in a timely manner. The truth is, I actually enjoy the process of doing all this without hired help. I just need to remind myself of that when we're in the middle of it.

Ok, I feel better now. I'm going to keep moving forward and keep chugging along. Spring is near and my car is nearly paid off! I promise I will share the rest of this still-mostly-undecorated-or-renovated-house-despite-living-here-almost-ten-months, even though it kind of gives me anxiety. It's not pin-worthy or a representation of where I want to be, so don't judge--deal?!

Thanks for sticking with me! I promise it will get better!

  1. I totally feel you on seasonal blues - it's so tough to have to encounter freezing weather over and over. Being cozy inside loses it's luster after a while :) I have heard that Minn. summers are just gorgeous. It's so refreshing to read a blog post like this that gives a glimpse into the day to day. And I am so excited to see more of your house!

  2. Thanks, Sara! You are right about snow/cold days losing their luster. So thankful to not have to travel in bad weather, but I start to go pretty stir crazy!
